The Blind Side

Great movie. I laughed, I cried and I was drawn into the movie. I could feel the emotion of the characters as the story unfolded. The actors were believable and I found myself cheering for him on the inside during the game scenes.

There is one scene that will keep me from letting my pre-teen children from watching it. She threatens to cut off part of his anatomy if he gets a girl pregnant. Beyond this scene, I recommend this movie.

Astro Boy

Great cast of characters for the voices. They did a pretty good job of modernizing the character. Lots of action as expected. I think the rating should have been PG-13 because of one scene and because the subject matter got a little heavy.

DON'T READ BELOW IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE OR IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW A KEY PIVOT POINT OF THE MOVIE.

The scientist son accidentally gets incinerated during the testing of a military robot. The showed the son right before the blast and then they showed the room engulfed in flames. This was immediately followed by the room being showed with no sign of the boy except his baseball cap. The the loss of his son the scientist goes a little nuts and builds a robot that looks like his son. He rounds out the robot by programming all his sons attributes and memories into the robot. It would have been better to take the pinochio approach on this one. Puppet master creates puppet and then teaches him to act like a boy.

The Bounty Hunter 2010

Aniston and Butler delivered believable characters. The story line was very predictable. The funniest part involved butler and the bailbond secretary who asked for her gum back after he gave her a huge kiss. There were no surprises as the plot unfolded.

50 First Dates

Rated PG13

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore had no chemistry between them. The movie had many actors that played parts in other Sandler movies as well as Sean Astin who played Sam in Lord of the Rings. I don’t know what he was thinking being in this movie. Watching Adam Sandler in this movie is like watching a little kid throw a tantrum in a store. You wish someone would just do anything to shut them up. Drew’s character was just there...it couldn't develop because every day was ground hog day but she didn't know it.

The scenes attempting to be funny were just crude. In some cases they recycled jokes and stunts from other Adam Sandler movies.

The concept of someone loosing their short-term memory over and over again was done by another former SNL cast member, Dana Carvey, in Blank Slate.

In my opinion this movie is not worth buying. If you are a big fan of Adam or Drew then rent it because you probably won’t want to see it again.

Master and Commander

Rated: PG-13 (violence)

The film is full of action. It has a cast that works well together on the screen. The problem I had throughout the film was the action. Although, I'm sure it must have been difficult for sailors to see in hand to hand combat when ships are so close together and cannons are firing, I don't think it should be continually difficult for the viewer to tell which side one is viewing. My wife and I continually paused and backed up the movie trying to figure out which navy we were viewing at a given moment in the film. This difficulty was frustrating to us and dissuaded us from buying it.

The Last Samurai

Rated: R (some very violent scenes)

The battle scenes in this movie were incredible. They put you right up there on the front with soldiers on both sides.

I actually think that this is Tom Cruise's best performance ever. The story and characters were beleivable. When you find yourself feeling compassion for one charicter, detesting another one and wanting to shake some sense into yet another, then you know you have been drawn into the story and the actors are doing their job.

Recommendation:
See the movie if you have the chance. If you are a big fan of Tom Cruise, then buy it.
